Russell A. Salton, III, MD is a third generation physician who spent his college summers working in the business office of the hospital his grandfather built. As a physician, he was co-founder and CEO of Metrolina Family Physicians which at the time of its purchase was the largest independent family practice group in the Southeast. In the early '90s he co-founded a managed care company, Primary PhysicianCare. After the sale of his portion of this company, Dr Salton was the Carolinas Medical Director for Aetna for five years. Following this experience he became convinced there would be an explosion in the uninsured and a whole new class of underinsured Americans. These concerns lead to his purchase of AccessOne.
