Background
AccessOne® was purchased by Russell A. Salton, III, MD, CEO and Stephen C. Bernard, CIO in February of 2002. The corporate name was changed to AccessOne MedCard, Inc. to reflect the name of our product and the industry it targets. Our corporate headquarters, processing, and call center operations are located in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Originally established in 1994, the company offered medical credit card services to 6 hospitals at the time of its purchase. Since competition of our proprietary software system, AccessOne has expanded service from 6 to more than 53 hospital facilities.
It is important to note two key strategic relationships. GE Healthcare Financial Services understands the healthcare industry and the increasing need for hospitals to finance their self-pay receivables. GE has provided the funding for our product since 2004. Fifth Third Bank is our corporate bank and provides our lockbox services.
